David Broder (uk)

David Broder is a historian of modern Italy. His books on the contemporary far right include Mussolini's GrandchildrenFascism in Contemporary Italy (Pluto Press, 2023), and First They Took Rome: How the Populist Right Conquered Italy (Verso Books, 2020). His PhD thesis on the Italian Resistance (London School of Economics) was published in 2021 as The Rebirth of Italian Communism: Dissidents in German-Occupied Rome 1943–44 (Palgrave, 2021). He is Europe editor of Jacobin magazine, and a regular contributor to Internazionale and the New Statesman; his writing has appeared in outlets including the New York Times, Foreign Policy, the Guardian, Politico, La Repubblica and Il Fatto Quotidiano.
