Climate emergency - what's next? - Workshop
Villages and Cities in Transition
in Graz: Forum Stadtpark; in your community via video conference? - contact us.
Many municipalities and states are declaring climate emergency - most recently also the European Parliament. But what happens next? Many examples are already inspiring us to do something about the climate crisis. In Austria, too, there are numerous initiatives that contribute to a good life for all at various levels. Cities and municipalities are undergoing a transition.
Within the framework of the first DorfUni 2.0 conference under the motto "Elevate the Village", municipalities and cities, whether already active or not yet active, are called upon to network. This is how it works: a workshop is held at a central location in the participating municipality (community hall, school, library, ...) - the location in Graz is Forum Stadtpark. These places are connected via video conference. First the climate scientist Helga Kromp-Kolb reports on the current state of climate research. We will then hear inspiring examples from Transition Town Friesach of how the first steps towards a community in transition can look like. Afterwards the participating communities begin to develop plans and strategies for their municipality as part of the workshop. Finally, each community reports.
We are looking for municipalities in initiatives that would like to participate. Elevate the Village is just the prelude to monthly village conferences. Further information can be found at: www.dorfuni.at
