Esther Kamber (ch)

Esther Kamber is head of research of the Institute “Public and Society” at the University of Zurich. Her main research interests are social change of modern societies, structural change of the public sphere, public communication and media quality. 1995 she graduated at the University of Zurich with a degree in sociology, social and economic  history and economy. Since 1990 Kamber is part of several research projects mostly in leading position. I.e. from 2005 to 2008 she was part of the project „Democracy in the media society - Theoretical support and empirical validation of a social term. NCCR: Challenges to Democracy in the 21st Century“.  2010 she was head of the project “Media concentration and diversity of opinion. Diversity of information and opinion in press under circumstances of dominant and cross media companies” of the Swiss Federal Office of Communication – BAKOM. In her academic lectures Kamber focuses on themes like “Quality of public communication”, “companies and public sphere” or “Swiss German print media in structural change of public sphere – media types and range in change.”
