Gaby Weber (de)

Gaby Weber is a German publicist. One of her publications focuses on the history of German-Latin American relations. She studied Romance philology and journalism at the Free Universität of Berlin, where she graduated in 1979 with a Master of Arts degree and received her doctorate in 1982 at the Latin American Institute. Since 1978, the co-founder of taz has worked as a journalist and since 1986 as a freelance correspondent, first from Montevideo and from 2002 onwards from Buenos Aires. There she mainly works for the radio stations of the german public broadcaster ARD.

In addition to working as a correspondent, she has published several reports and extensive research into the history of intelligence activities. Including 1989 talks with guerrilla leaders in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Uruguay, 2004 about Daimler-Benz and the Argentina Connection and 2005 a play about Adolf Eichmann and nuclear research in Argentina. The research on this subject led to extensive correspondence and reports on the still blocked intelligence files of the Federal Government. However, according to a decision of the Federal Administrative Court, the archive holdings blocked by the Federal Chancellery as the supervisory authority must be largely released.
