Joachim Hirsch (de)

Dr Joachim Hirsch, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Frankfurt University, holds as the focal points of his work the theory of capitalism, the philosophy of the state, regulation theory, international political economy, and social movements. He has held positions in both instruction and research at UC Berkeley, Aalborg University, the Kyung-Hee University of Seoul as well as many Brazilian and Mexican universites, among others. Hirsch was co-editor of the series "Gesellschaft. Beiträge zur Marx'schen Theorie" ("Society: Articles on Maxist Theory") (Suhrkamp 1974-1979) and long-time editor for the "Review of International Political Economy" (1993-2002).  He is on the board of directors for the human rights organization "medico international" and, above all, active in editing the internet platform "links-netz.de", which currently publishes the majority of his analyses and commentaries. Amongst his most significant books are "Das neue Gesicht des Kapitalismus" ("The New History of Capitalism") co-written with Roland Roth (1986), "Der nationale Wettbewerbsstaat" ("The National State of Competition") (1995), as well as "Materialstische Staatstheorie. Transformationsprozesse des kapitalistischen Staatensystems" ("Materialistic Theories of State: The Transformation Processes of Capitalist State Systems") (2005), which has also been published in Spanish and Japanese.
