Barbara Wimmer has been a full-time journalist for thirteen years. After working for German music magazines and ORF, she has been a regular editor for the daily newspaper KURIER and futurezone.at since 2010, writing articles on network policy, data protection, privacy, social media and IT security. In 2018 she was awarded the journalist prize "WINFRA". As an author and lecturer, she is dedicated above all to the increasing networking of society. Her story collection "Smart Lies - alles smart?" was published by edition mono in autumn 2018. Her first novel, which will be published by Gmeiner Verlag in 2020, revolves around self-propelled cars and networked cowsheds. She is also a member of the jury for the "Big Brother Awards Austria" and for the organisation of the Netzpolitischer Abends in Vienna (#netzpat).
